Former Rep. Devin Nunes said that the findings of the Durham Report reveal the “entire collapse of the justice system.”
In an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Nunes stipulated that the findings of Special Counsel John Durham exposed the true extent of damage to the justice system, in light of the FBI’s investigation into former President Donald Trump’s supposed collusion with the Russian government.

“I think, overall, this is a really sad day for America, because what it represents is the total collapse of the justice system,” Nunes said, when asked about his assessment of the Durham Report.
“A lot of people see this as, oh, FBI/intelligence agencies. No, no, no, this represents the entire collapse of the justice system. And it really — the Durham report reads like the tombstone for the justice system,” he continued. “And it would say something simple, like, ‘here lies the justice system, the Justice Department, and we knew there was criminality, and we couldn’t do anything about it.'”
Nunes praised the work of Durham in the investigation but lamented the fact that no charges were brought forward.
“What this is really about, it’s about the Justice Department collapsing. It’s also about the judicial branch of government collapsing and the fake news media collapsing,” he said.
The assessment by Nunes, the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee, represents one of the biggest denunciations of the FBI and justice system in reaction to the release of the Durham Report.
In his investigation, Durham found that the Steele dossier, which triggered the Trump-Russia investigation, was deeply flawed and that the FBI was unable to corroborate “a single substantive allegation.” He added that the agency went through with the investigation despite “a complete lack of information from the Intelligence Community that corroborated the hypothesis upon which the … investigation was predicated.”

The findings of the four-year investigation corroborated some of Trump’s claims about the FBI’s Russian collusion investigation, specifically regarding political bias and a failure of judgment.
However, Durham’s report fell short of uncovering the “crime of the century,” as Trump speculated, and it did not recommend any criminal charges, a fact criticized by many conservatives.
