North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore, one of the most powerful people in the state, has been accused of having an affair and using his political position to engage in group sex with people seeking political favor.

In a lawsuit, Scott Lassiter claims Moore, “used his position as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives to initiate contact and develop a personal relationship with Mrs. Lassiter, despite knowing that she was married to Plaintiff,” according to court documents obtained by WSOC.

Lassiter, a Wake County assistant principal and former Apex City councilman, said the affair “destroyed” his marriage.

The documents also reportedly state that after Lassiter became suspicious his wife, Jaime Lassiter, was having an affair and he confronted her about it, she confessed it had been going on for three years and that “she had engaged in sexual activity with Defendant Tim Moore (including group sex with other individuals seeking Tim Moore’s political favor), and that she feared ending the relationship with [Moore] would result in losing her job.”

Jaime Lassiter is currently the executive director of the North Carolina Conference of Clerks of Superior Court.

Scott Lassiter is suing Moore, a Republican, for several claims, including alienation of affections and civil conspiracy. The alienation of affections statute allows people in North Carolina to sue their spouse’s extramarital partners.

A spokesperson for Moore strongly denied the accusations in the lawsuit, telling Axios in a statement Sunday, “This is a baseless lawsuit from a troubled individual. We will vigorously defend this action and pursue all available legal remedies.”

Jamie Lassiter also came down hard on her husband, saying they have been separated “for years.”

“Our marriage was a nightmare, and since I left him it has gotten worse,” Jamie Lassiter said. “We are reaching the end of our divorce process and this is how he’s lashing out.”

The lawsuit also reportedly says Scott Lassiter met with Moore, who confessed to the affair and asked Lassiter “if there was anything he could do for Plaintiff, implying that he could use the power he held as Speaker in some way to benefit Plaintiff.”
