Former President Donald Trump is waiting to see if he will be facing charges in Georgia's 2020 election interference investigation, and CNN reported the district attorney is seeking more than a dozen indictments.

Former President Donald Trump is waiting to see if he will be facing charges in Georgia’s 2020 election interference investigation, and CNN reported the district attorney is seeking more than a dozen indictments.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has hinted that charges related to the Trump inquiry could come within the next week.

Willis initially launched a criminal investigation into Trump in February 2021. A special grand jury was selected in May 2022 that did not have indictment powers, but it recommended multiple legal actions against the current GOP front-runner, including at least a dozen indictments. Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) gave closed-door testimony to the grand jury.

The conclusion from a partial report released in February was that there was no widespread voter fraud in the state’s 2020 presidential election, rejecting Trump’s allegations. Trump’s lawyers have requested that any evidence obtained from the report not be used in any future civil or criminal proceeding.

Trump asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in January 2021 to “find 11,780 votes” in a recorded phone call that has been used as evidence in the House Jan. 6 committee investigation.

Officials in Atlanta have seemingly already started preparing for the potential indictment, which would be the fourth Trump case to see an indictment this year, by placing barricades around the Fulton County courthouse downtown.
