Former President Donald Trump on Monday said former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan “shouldn’t” testify before the Fulton County grand jury investigating alleged 2020 election subversion efforts.
“I am reading reports that failed former Lt. Governor of Georgia, Jeff Duncan, will be testifying before the Fulton County Grand Jury,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Monday morning. “He shouldn’t. I barely know him but he was, right from the beginning of this Witch Hunt, a nasty disaster for those looking into the Election Fraud that took place in Georgia.”

Duncan, who is a critic of Trump’s allegations of election fraud that began in 2020, said Saturday that he’s been requested to appear Tuesday before the Fulton County grand jury.
“I can confirm that I have been requested to testify before the Fulton County grand jury on Tuesday. I look forward to answering their questions around the 2020 election,” Duncan wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Republicans should never let honesty be mistaken for weakness,” Duncan added.
The investigation in Fulton County, led by District Attorney Fani Willis, has been ongoing for months and is likely entering its final stages as she has signaled there would be a decision on whether to file charges in the case around mid-August.
Willis has been investigating a call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, where the former president asked if he could “find” a specific number of votes needed to undo his loss to then-candidate Joe Biden, among other efforts to subvert the 2020 results.
Already indicted in three other criminal cases, Trump has been warned in previous hearings against intimidating witnesses or making “inflammatory statements” on social media despite repeatedly criticizing prosecutors, judges, or witnesses in various investigations.

In Trump’s federal criminal case over alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said during a Friday hearing that any appearance of witness tampering would enhance the need for a speedy trial.
Trump is facing federal charges in two investigations, including the 2020 elections matter and his alleged retention of classified documents. He is also facing state charges in New York over an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
