Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson claimed to have won over new donors after the first Republican primary debate.
Hutchinson appeared on Fox News’s Cavuto Live Saturday to share his takeaways from the debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday. The former governor barely qualified for the debate and was the second to last of the eight candidates to answer questions at the debate per its ranking by polling.

“Now, after the debate, we had received almost 4,000 new donors as a result of my debate appearance,” Hutchinson said. “We got a small bump in the polls, and I think that will continue.”
Out of all eight candidates, he was one of two to keep his hand down when asked if the candidates would support former President Donald Trump if he is convicted in one or more of his four criminal cases. Opponent Chris Christie seemingly raised his hand but clarified he was shaking his finger.
“I’m the only one that was clear on that, actually. And without any hesitation,” Hutchinson said of the question. “So you know, you’ve got to do what Abraham Lincoln talked about, and that is find solid ground and stand firm. I’m in the right place. I stand firm.”
