Megyn Kelly suggested Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is “not well” after his second incident freezing up in public.
During the Thursday episode of her SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly also asked where are the spouses of aging politicians, such as McConnell, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and President Joe Biden, to question the legitimacy of their continuing in service.

Kelly lamented the seemingly deteriorating state of the seven-term senator. During the show, she attempted to hold McConnell to the same standard of scrutiny other Democratic senators have received.
“So I take no pleasure in any of this, but the fact is, he doesn’t seem well enough to be a sitting U.S. Senator anymore. He just doesn’t,” Kelly said of McConnell. “If we’re gonna call out the John Fettermans and the Dianne Feinsteins of the world, we’re derelict if we don’t do it to the Mitch McConnells of the world. He’s not being open about what’s happening to him.”
Congress’s attending physician cleared McConnell to continue his work schedule “as planned” Thursday. Brian Monahan, the Navy rear admiral who evaluated him, pointed to the concussion McConnell suffered in March as having caused “lightheadedness” and speculated the senator could have also been dehydrated.
“This is somebody with a great deal of power and responsibility, and therefore it is a concern of public matter, much more so than it would be for a private citizen,” talk show host Glenn Greenwald, who appeared as Kelly’s guest, said in response.
In Kelly’s opinion, it shouldn’t be up to the public to “kick them out” when they become too elderly to function in their congressional capabilities. She said she would rather see them “go gracefully into the sunset with our thanks, our salute.” Kelly suggested it should be the job of the spouse to inform them it’s time to retire.

“And I do wonder, I think it’s a fair question. Where is Jill Biden? Where’s Elaine Chao? Where’s Dianne Feinstein’s partner?” Kelly said, referring to the first lady and McConnell’s wife, respectively. “Because I know God forbid this ever happened to me, my husband would say: ‘Honey, you’re the bomb. But it’s going to be super fun for us to travel the Grand Canyon and the great parks of the United States together at this point in your career. This is what we’re going to do. It’s going to be the fun next phase of life for us. And maybe it’s time to step away from the lectern in the U.S. Senate or the microphone’ — in the case of somebody like me. Where are they?”
It remains to be seen whether McConnell will run for an eighth term.
