Some Alaska residents who have yet to receive their check from the Permanent Fund Dividend for 2023 and are eligible to get one will receive their payment in two days.

The residents who will receive their payment on Thursday include those who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by Wednesday and have not received their 2023 or earlier PFD payment. The state began sending its payments from the program for 2023 to eligible residents in October.

The Permanent Fund Dividend program offers residents an annual payment based on Alaska’s mineral revenues for that year. An applicant must intend to remain a resident of Alaska indefinitely and not be a convicted felon, among other requirements, to qualify for the program.

Applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend are open to eligible residents until March 31. Alaskans may fill out an application online or via paper form in order to apply for the program.

The PFD check for 2023 was worth $1,312 per eligible resident, according to state officials.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the payment last year. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” he added in 2023. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”
