Actor Dan Levy claimed he was meant to be cast in the Barbie film, but ultimately, his schedule did not allow it.

Levy’s role would have been that of a Ken, roles Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu assumed. The film was directed by Greta Gerwig and produced by Margot Robbie, who also played the titular character.

“Logistically could not make it work despite desperately trying to,” Levy told People. “So, yeah, I guess I was, I was technically unavailable to to do that.”

The film went on to make $502.6 million in its first three weeks, which marked it as the highest-grossing film by a female director domestically. It made over $1 billion worldwide, making it one of only three of the 53 films in history to surpass $1 billion in international sales with a female director.

“Does it haunt me when I sleep at night? Sometimes,” Levy said. “It’s not like it isn’t like one of the biggest movies of all time. That was a tough, that was a tough day.”

Barbie won a Golden Globe award earlier this month for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The songs featured in the film were also nominated for Grammy’s and Golden Globes, with Billie Eilish winning a Golden Globe for the song “What Was I Made For.”

Levy is an Emmy-winning actor three times over for his performance, writing, and directing of the series Schitt’s Creek, which was his breakout role alongside his father, Eugene Levy, and sister Sarah Levy.
