Museums
- All 17 Smithsonian museums will be open on Christmas Eve, but closed on Christmas Day. This includes the National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Natural History, the American Art Museum, Smithsonian Gardens, the African American History and Culture Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and others.
- The Holocaust Museum will be open on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
- The Museum of the Bible will be open on Christmas Eve until 4 p.m., but it will be closed on Christmas Day.
- The International Spy Museum will be open on Christmas Eve until 3 p.m., but closed on Christmas Day.
- The People’s House will be open to visitors on Christmas Eve until 4 p.m. and will close at 5 p.m. It will be closed on Christmas Day.
- Traditionally, the National Building Museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which means the museum will be closed on Christmas Eve this year, as it falls on a Wednesday. The museum will also be closed on Christmas Day.

- Walmart will be open for limited hours, which vary by location, on Christmas Eve, but will be closed on Christmas Day.
- Target will be open for extended holiday hours until midnight on Dec. 23. Then, on Christmas Eve, the stores will close at 8 p.m. and remain closed through Christmas Day.
- Sam’s Club will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, but will be closed for Christmas Day.
