Video platform Rumble has offered to partner with social media platform TikTok ahead of Congress moving forward with legislation that could ban the massively popular application.

The legislation in question would require TikTok to divest completely from its China-based parent company, ByteDance, or else get banned in the United States. The offer from Rumble, a platform considered to be a free speech alternative to YouTube, stated that it would be ready to join “a consortium” of other parties to acquire and operate TikTok in the U.S. — if TikTok does choose to divest from ByteDance.

“Specifically, we are ready to serve as a cloud technology partner,” the statement from Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski read. “Yesterday, Rumble announced the public launch of the Rumble Cloud, a new infrastructure as a service offering that champions the free and open internet. All data on the Rumble Cloud is stored safely and securely at sites inside of the United States on Rumble’s own neutral and independent infrastructure.”

Pavlovski added that this offer to acquire TikTok would be subject to negotiations “of a definitive agreement.”

The topic of TikTok having to divest from ByteDance has grown since Congress is moving forward with its legislation. Billionaire Shark Tank co-host Kevin O’Leary has expressed interest in buying the platform. Fellow billionaire Bobby Kotick, the ex-CEO of video game company Activision Blizzard, is also interested in the prospect, according to a report.

Rumble has slowly gained traction in the market of long-form video platforms, a market largely dominated by YouTube. Earlier this year, Rumble reached a partnership deal with Barstool Sports, one of the nation’s most popular sports, lifestyle, and entertainment brands.
