Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump will continue traversing the campaign trail in the coming months, but in between campaign events, the former president will be making several stops in courtrooms across the country.

The various legal battles the former president is embroiled in span from the classified documents case in federal court to a business record falsification case in a Manhattan court. The 2024 GOP front-runner is also facing legal challenges to his eligibility on the ballot, with some states arguing his role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, makes him ineligible based on the 14th Amendment.

Here are key dates for both the campaign and the former president’s court dates.

Jan. 15, 2024: Iowa caucuses are held. The first contest in the Republican presidential primary.

Jan 16, 2024: Trial in the defamation lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll begins. This case, filed in 2019, is the second trial Trump will face after he was found liable for sexual battery and defamation in a separate case in May.

Jan. 23, 2024: The New Hampshire Republican primary is held. This will be the first primary of the GOP presidential nominating process and the second major test for Trump on the Republican ballot.

Feb. 8, 2024: The Supreme Court will hold oral arguments in Trump’s appeal of the Colorado Supreme Court decision to remove him from the primary ballot over claims he is ineligible under the “insurrection clause” of the 14th Amendment.

The Nevada Republican presidential caucus is also held on this day. This will be the third contest of the GOP primary.

Feb. 24, 2024: South Carolina Republican presidential primary is held. This is the first contest for GOP candidates in the South and will be held three weeks later than the Democratic presidential primary in the state.

March 4, 2024: Trump’s trial in the Washington, D.C., case related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election is scheduled to begin.

This start date for the trial is currently in jeopardy as the case is being held in abeyance. The case has been paused pending Trump’s appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that he is entitled to presidential immunity for his actions and cannot be prosecuted. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia denied his argument, and whatever decision the appeals court makes is likely to be appealed by one of the parties to the Supreme Court.

March 5, 2024: Super Tuesday. More than a dozen states will hold their Republican presidential primaries.

March 20, 2024: Deadline for either party to file any motions in limine, or made at the beginning of the trial, in the classified documents case.

March 25, 2024: Trump’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin in New York. In this case, Trump was charged with allegedly falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments before the 2016 election.

April 17, 2024: Hearing held on motions in limine in the classified documents case.

May 14, 2024: Hearing in the classified documents case on any remaining concerns regarding the Classified Information Procedures Act and the handling of classified materials in the case. During that hearing, a calendar call will be held to schedule the trial and subsequent hearings.

May 20, 2024: Trial in the classified documents case begins.

July 15-18, 2024: The Republican National Convention is held. The Republican nominee for president for 2024 will be nominated during the convention, which will be held in Milwaukee.

The trial date for the 2020 election case against Trump in Fulton County, Georgia, has yet to be set. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has requested an Aug. 5, 2024, start date, which would fall three months before Election Day and could complicate campaigning for the former president if he is the GOP nominee.

Trump is the clear front-runner in the Republican field, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, but whether he can continue to run a winning campaign in the GOP primary and handle his various legal troubles remains to be seen.
