Some Republicans are worried that Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, is proving to be a political albatross for the GOP heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, served as advisers to the president during his first term. Both declined to rejoin the administration for Trump’s inauguration last year, though Kushner did serve as an unofficial diplomatic intermediary in 2025 and was tapped by Trump this year to serve alongside Steve Witkoff as special envoys for peace missions.
