The Democratic Party of Monroe County, Pennsylvania, called Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) a “traitor” to his state and his party over the weekend. The group endorsed Fetterman in his 2022 bid for U.S. Senate, but sharply rebuked the Keystone State’s senior senator in a social media post Sunday.

“TRAITOR to Democrats. TRAITOR to Pennsylvanians. TRAITOR to those who worked tirelessly to elect him and stood with him,” the post on X reads. “‘51st vote,’ my a$$. This FOX pundit is [100%] MAGA. Primary him and vote him out in 2028.”

The post was a reaction to Fetterman’s recent appearance on Fox News’s The Sunday Briefing when he discussed supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for a Cabinet position.

“I’m not sure what he’s up for the job, but I voted for some of those members of the Cabinet because, you know, like Marco Rubio, I think he’s done a great job overall, too,” Fetterman said. “It used to not be very controversial to absolutely vote for these kinds of people just because it happens to be the opposite party.”

Fetterman also criticized his party for their lack of collaboration with the Trump administration.

“Right now, our entire party’s been defined by TDS,” referencing “Trump derangement syndrome,” a term typically used by Republicans to describe irrational negative reactions to President Donald Trump and his policies.

“We have to find a way to work together, and we can agree on some things, and we’re going to disagree on other things, as I’ve done,” Fetterman added.

Fetterman has distanced himself from his fellow Democratic lawmakers by supporting the Trump administration. Both Democrats and Republicans have called for the Pennsylvania senator to switch political parties.

Fetterman defended his standing in the Democratic Party in a different appearance on Fox News last week.

FETTERMAN LAUGHS WHEN ASKED ABOUT RELATIONSHIP WITH DEMOCRATIC COLLEAGUES: NOT THE ‘POPULAR GUY’

“My voting record actually reflects that I am a Democrat,” he said. “What’s changed me with many of my other colleagues is I don’t agree, and I use extreme rhetoric … but I support what I think most Americans should agree with these things.”

While Fetterman defended his Democratic affiliation, a February Quinnipiac University poll demonstrated he had higher approval ratings among Republicans than Democrats.
