The leading New Jersey Republican Senate candidate hoping to face scandal-plagued Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in the fall election issued a strong endorsement of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

“I have your back, and I am ready to help you win!” twice-elected Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner said.

“During this election year, and once I join the U.S. Senate, I will work with President Trump to lead New Jersey through commonsense solutions and usher in a new era of greatness for this country,” she said in a statement shared with Secrets on Tuesday.

Although New Jersey is considered a blue state, and President Joe Biden beat the former president 57%-41% in 2020, disgruntlement with the Biden economy from the state’s blue-collar workers and anger at the latest Menendez scandal has Republicans hoping for a much better finish in November.

In announcing her endorsement early in her campaign, Serrano Glassner signaled her full backing of Trump and MAGA in a state where some Republicans have tiptoed around the former president.

“In 2024, voters have the most consequential decision in our nation’s history when we vote for president in November. We will be choosing between socialism and free markets; between weaponized government and limited, constitutional governance; between proven peace and prosperity solutions for hardworking families and doubling down on the failures of globalism,” she said.

“President Trump is the only candidate who has already fought all those battles — and won. He understands that New Jersey voters are disenchanted by the policy failures and unrestrained radicalism of today’s Democratic Party, and they’re looking to restore our economy and our liberties and to Make America Great Again,” Serrano Glassner added.

Last year, Serrano Glassner, who is 60 and a mother of two daughters, won 61% of the vote in her reelection. Menendez, the former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is underwater in job approval, 36%-45%, according to a Monmouth University poll released in August.

And a Fairleigh Dickinson University poll said 70% of state voters want Menendez to resign, a signal the state may be open to choosing a Republican for Senate. On Tuesday, in a Senate floor speech, he declared his innocence.

Serrano Glassner has strong ties with the national Republican Party. She was a 2016 convention delegate and served in the Bush administration.

Her husband, Michael Glassner, was a senior official in Trump’s 2016 campaign and the 2020 campaign COO. He also heads the Patriot Legal Defense Fund created to help Trump with his legal fees. He is credited with organizing some of Trump’s biggest campaign rallies.

In her statement, Serrano Glassner cited Trump’s immigration and economic victories that have weakened under Biden.

“Donald Trump has the strongest record of any president in history on securing our border, cutting taxes, creating jobs, supporting our veterans, ensuring the safety and security of Israel, defending the Second Amendment, and Peace through Strength. That’s why Donald J. Trump has my complete and total endorsement to be elected the 47th president of the United States. To the man who has meant so much to our country, our state, and my family, I say: I have your back, and I am ready to help you win!” she said.
