Former President Donald Trump endorsed retired Army Capt. Sam Brown in the GOP Senate primary in Nevada hours after concluding a rally in the state on Sunday.

Trump praised Brown as “a good man” but came short of giving his endorsement during the rally in Las Vegas, waiting to post on Truth Social about who he was backing in Tuesday’s Republican primary in the Silver State.

“Sam Brown is a FEARLESS AMERICAN PATRIOT, a Purple Heart Recipient, who has proven he has the ‘PURE GRIT’ and COURAGE to take on our Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic,” Trump said in a post late Sunday night. “Sam is now running for U.S. Senate in the Great State of Nevada, primarily because he knows that Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left are A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY. Our Country can no longer stand with this Corrupt and Incompetent ‘President’ calling the shots.”

The former president also said Brown would be in line with his proposed agenda if he wins a second term to the White House in November, highlighting the border, inflation, and economy.

“Sam has already proven his Love for our Country, being horrifically wounded, and making the Comeback of a Lifetime. Sam Brown has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” he added in a subsequent post.

Brown, who is seeking to oust Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) in November should he win Tuesday’s primary, said he was “honored” to have Trump’s support.

“I am honored to have President Trump’s endorsement of our grassroots Duty First movement for U.S. Senate. Together, we will work towards delivering a better future for every Nevadan! I look forward to helping President Trump pass the America First agenda in the U.S. Senate after we both win in November,” Brown said. “Our message to every American is clear: relief from the Biden-Rosen American Nightmare will soon be here and the hope of the American Dream will be restored!”

In response to Trump’s endorsement of Brown, Rosen slammed the GOP challenger and said she would “defeat MAGA extremism in November.”

“Donald Trump just endorsed my extreme MAGA opponent, Sam Brown. His agenda of banning abortion, gutting health care, and slashing Social Security is wrong for Nevada,” she said in a post on X.

A New York Times-Siena poll released last month showed Rosen and Brown tied 41%-41% among likely voters in a head-to-head matchup.

In the 2022 elections, Republican Joe Lombardo defeated incumbent Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak in the gubernatorial race, making Sisolak the only incumbent governor to lose in that year’s elections, while Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) narrowly won reelection over Republican Adam Laxalt by fewer than 8,000 votes. The 2024 Senate race in the Silver State has been rated as a “toss-up” by the CookPoliticalReport.
