President Donald Trump returned to the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton Saturday night after Secret Service evacuated the president, first lady Melania Trump, and members of his Cabinet due to noise that many attendees interpreted as gunshots.
Trump is expected to speak on the event.
The Washington Examiner has not confirmed what the incident is at this time.
The dinner marks the first year Trump will attend as president. He declined to attend the dinner in his first term.
Trump announced that he would be attending back in March.
“It will be my Honor to accept their invitation, and work to make it the GREATEST, HOTTEST, and MOST SPECTACULAR DINNER, OF ANY KIND, EVER!” he said at the time.
The event is typically hosted by a comedian, though this year’s dinner will see magician Oz Pearlman take the stage. Past dinner hosts include Trevor Noah, Jay Leno, and Stephen Colbert.

Comedian Amber Ruffin was slated to host the dinner in 2025, but came under fire for comments she made about not being able to be “equal” to both sides.
Other big names expected to make an appearance on Saturday night include rapper Nicki Minaj.
