Washington Examiner economics columnist Tiana Lowe Doescher said President Donald Trump has spent years engaged in efforts she believes are aimed at helping the United States, referencing the war in Iran.
Doescher said she does not have sympathy for people who may still be scarred by the Iraq War.
“This is a completely different president that understands it isn’t our job to promote democracy and liberalism but just to take out imminent threats to the U.S. and then try and leave with a deal,” Doescher said on Fox News @ Night on Friday.
She argued that the critics who are skeptical of the president’s actions are facing a “sort of a shock where they don’t realize that Iran might not be a rational actor, but China is.”
Doescher said China relies on the Strait of Hormuz for about half of its oil supply. The strait’s closure during the conflict restricted China’s oil imports.
“Not only has it totally tanked Iran’s economy, but the Chinese finally forced their hand,” Doescher said.
Doescher reacted to a clip of political analyst and Army veteran Paul Rieckhoff referring to Trump while saying the country wants to see a new generation of Avengers take out the supervillain.
UNDERSTANDING WHY TRUMP ORDERED THE BLOCKADE IN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ
“President Trump’s the one going after the real enemy,” Doescher said.
“It’s been a full decade at this point of ‘Donald Trump is the main character of American politics,” Doescher continued. “And sometimes the Left can be so myopic they forget he’s fighting a bigger battle that if they want to, they can actually be a part of.”
