Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for being a hypocrite after the congresswoman’s latest comments slamming billionaires.
In an interview in early May, Ocasio-Cortez said, “You can’t earn a billion dollars.” Concha said the statement contradicted her actions, pointing to the congresswoman flying private to the Fight the Oligarchy rallies.
“AOC flies private to her ‘Fight the Oligarchy’ rallies, so, yeah, slightly hypocritical when she pays $15,000 an hour to fly private and then talks about how billionaires are the problem,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Evening Edit Thursday.
Concha praised billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos for their companies’ global employment numbers.
Concha specifically highlighted Amazon, discussing the innovation of ordering a package and getting it delivered the next day.
“It creates a service where you can get a package within two or three hours the next day,” he said. “It has changed the way the entire world shops that helps everybody who sells products on Amazon.”
Concha pushed back on Ocasio-Cortez’s criticisms, highlighting how billionaires have a positive impact.
“Billionaires aren’t the problem as AOC thinks they are,” he said. “They make the world better. They made our lives better.”
Bezos argued in an interview with CNBC that increasing taxes for billionaires would not help everyday people.
Concha agreed with Bezos’s comments, saying Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) do not understand how the system works.

“The AOC and Bernie Sanders of the world don’t understand that,” he said. “They don’t care to understand that because they think taxing the rich solves problems, it’s quite the opposite.
“As we’ve seen in New York, California, Illinois, the rich will leave those states and go to places where there are no income taxes.”
