Freedom 250 announced details on Sunday about the rodeo it is holding on Washington, D.C.’s National Mall.
The rodeo is an effort to “tell the story of the people and traditions that helped shape the American frontier and the nation,” according to organizers. It will be held daily as part of the Great American State Fair, which is being led by Freedom 250, the organization President Donald Trump spearheaded to celebrate the United States’s 250th anniversary of independence. The “evolution of the American cowboy” rodeo will be free, featuring everything from Spanish vaquero traditions, cattle drives, Wild West performances, and charros to trick riding, Roman riding, trick roping, and precision riding demonstrations.
“For generations, the cowboy has represented the very best of the American spirit — grit, determination, self-reliance, and optimism,” Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said. “Rodeo 250 is more than a western showcase; it’s a celebration of the values and traditions that helped build our nation. As we commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary, we’re proud to bring this uniquely American experience to the National Mall and share an important chapter of our nation’s story with visitors from across the country and around the world.”
The event will be produced by Cervi Rodeo Company, one of the most respected names in professional rodeo. Shows will run throughout the Great American State Fair, from June 25 through July 10, 2026. The rodeo will run Sunday through Wednesday at 4 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m., with a special July 4 performance at 3 p.m. Advanced registration is encouraged.

The occasion is part of a series of events being thrown to celebrate the country’s semiquincentennial. Freedom 250 is helping lead a number of festivities, including the rodeo, the Great American State Fair, the upcoming “Patriot Games” high school competition in the district, and the recent UFC White House fight.
