Authorities in Palm Beach County, Florida, responded to the home of Donald Trump Jr. on Monday after a letter containing a white powder and a death threat was found.

Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump, opened the letter, causing the white powder to fly out, multiple sources familiar with the matter told the Daily Beast.

Hazmat crews were seen inside Trump Jr.’s home on Monday evening with firetrucks posted outside. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident with assistance from the Secret Service, Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the department, told Politico

In an interview with the Daily Caller, Trump Jr. said Monday’s incident marks “the second white powder substance envelope that’s been mailed” to him. Trump Jr. said the last time was when his father was in office, adding, “My then-wife opened it up with my kids by her side.” He continued, “It’s just sad that we live in a society where politics and the Left’s hatred of my father would drive people to do such crazy things, but that’s where we are, unfortunately.”

“It’s just become a little bit too commonplace that this sort of stuff happens,” Trump Jr. continued. “Clearly, if this happened to a prominent Democrat, it wouldn’t be tolerated and would drive news coverage for weeks. The media would blame all Republicans and force them to answer for it, but since it’s me, radical haters on the Left will largely get a free pass, and the media will barely flinch.”

A Trump Jr. spokesperson said it is not yet known what the substance actually was but affirmed that the businessman’s life does not seem to be at risk.

“The test results of the substance came up inconclusive on what it was exactly, but officials on the scene do not believe it is deadly,” the spokesperson reportedly said.

Trump Jr. is not the only public figure to have been sent white power in an envelope. Last week, a letter containing a white powder, which tests showed was not dangerous, was sent to a north Louisiana church attended by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Last year, around 100 Republican lawmakers and public officials across Kansas were sent letters containing white powder, prompting the FBI to look into the matter. In 2018, a letter was sent to then-President Barack Obama’s office in Washington, but the white substance inside was later found to be baby powder.
