Former President Donald Trump delivers remarks from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday morning, as the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on efforts to keep Trump off state ballots.

The Supreme Court case stems from a Colorado Supreme Court ruling in December, which disqualified Trump from appearing on the state’s presidential primary ballot because he allegedly violated the 14th Amendment in his alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot on Capitol Hill.

The state Supreme Court said the riot constituted an insurrection, and taking part in an insurrection violates the third section of the 14th Amendment. However, neither Trump nor any of his supporters who took part in Jan. 6 have been charged with insurrection.
