Hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman slammed President Joe Biden, saying he “is done” as president.

In an appearance on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Ackman made clear his feelings on Biden, saying that only the president’s ego was keeping him in power and that he has become a national embarrassment.

“I think he’s done,” Ackman said, referring to Biden. “I mean, it’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing for the country having him … as a presidential candidate, let alone the president of the country. It’s crazy. And it’s just gonna get worse and worse. And he should, you know, the worst of his legacy is his ego that prevents him from stepping aside. And that’s it. It’s his ego, and it is so wrong and so bad and so embarrassing.”

Ackman added that he hears from people all over the world how embarrassing it is for Biden to be president and how he isn’t competent enough to be in the position.

“Being president of the United States is like some combination of wrestling, marathon running, being a triathlete,” he continued. “I mean, you gotta be in serious physical shape and at the top of your game to represent this country, and he is a far cry from that, and it’s just getting worse, and it’s embarrassing.”

Ackman argued that the longer Biden stays on the ballot, the more he was “handing the election to Trump” by undercutting the efforts of other candidates. Despite this, the hedge fund manager expressed confidence that a viable path was still available for alternative candidates such as Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), but time is running out.

Ackman laid much of the blame on Biden’s wife and family, saying they were largely responsible for the situation.

“I’m upset with him and upset with his family,” he said. “I’m upset with his wife. This is the time where the people closest to you have to put their arms around you and say, ‘You know, Dad, you know, honey, you’ve done your thing. This is going to be your legacy, and it’s not going to be a good one.’”

Ackman has been especially vocal in politics and academia in recent months; he has been a major Democratic donor but also soured on the party as of late, largely due to its response to the war in Gaza. He is also well known for helping lead the successful effort to get Claudine Gay fired from her position as president of Harvard.
