First lady Jill Biden will lead the presidential delegation to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on July 26, the White House announced Friday.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, will lead the delegation to the closing ceremony on Aug. 11.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) will lead the delegation to the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, a competition for athletes with a range of disabilities, on Aug. 28, while Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra will lead the delegation to the closing ceremony on Sept. 8.

The individual members of each presidential delegation will be announced later, the White House said.

The first lady previously led the U.S. delegation to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, which took place in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden is also expected to attend some Olympic events while in Paris, a White House official told CNN.
