Fetterman has emerged as one of the most hawkish Democrats, not afraid to openly praise and side with Trump when it comes to Iran and the Middle East. He boosted this perception on Saturday, when he boosted an X post from Wicker calling on Trump to break the ceasefire and resume strikes on Iran.
“The time is over for negotiations with Iran’s regime. The radical successors of Khamenei can never be trusted to keep any promise or agreement. Our Commander-in-Chief should direct his skilled military leaders to finish destroying Iran’s conventional military capabilities and eliminating any last remnants of their nuclear program. This is the only way to ensure lasting stability in the region,” Wicker said in a post on X.

“Full agree,” Fetterman wrote, quoting the post.
The Pennsylvania Democrat has been an enthusiastic supporter of Operation Epic Fury, even as his party pins much of its hopes on a November blowout in the Midterms on harnessing popular discontent against the war.

“Committed Democrat here. I’m a hard no. My vote is Operation Epic Fury,” Fetterman wrote on social media hours after the first strikes, responding to calls to rein in Trump’s war powers.
The ceasefire announced earlier this month has largely held, though fighting has continued between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. After failing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the United States began its own blockade of the key waterway, hoping to pressure Iran into a settlement.

Negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, have so far largely failed to bear fruit, especially given the uncertain nature of who is wielding power in Tehran.
Meanwhile, a massive airlift nearing the scale of that during the buildup to first strike Iran has gained steam, feeding into speculation that Trump could be preparing a resumption of the war.
