While CBS News has improved dramatically since non-leftist firebrand Bari Weiss took over last year, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, as so perfectly demonstrated by the network’s continued bias to the left.
Case in point: On Sunday, CBS News’ “60 Minutes” official X social media account posted a sob story about a “Texas father … with no criminal record” who was detained by federal immigration authorities and then deported.
The post on X portrayed the man, Moussa Diawara, as someone “who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years” and who’d merely been “finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him.”
Federal immigration agents then deported the man to Ghana, from where he was later “sent to his home country” of Mali. At least “60 Minutes” was honest enough to admit that Mali was his “home country.”
A Texas father who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years with no criminal record was finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him.
Without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge, he was put on a plane and sent first to Ghana, a country where he had no ties…

However, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, there were still a couple of glaring omissions in the CBS News show’s so-called reporting.
First and foremost, Diawara was “NOT” just a Texas father, ICE noted in a scathing post published to X in response to the “60 Minutes” sob story.
Should media outlets be held accountable for misrepresenting immigration issues?

“He is an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Mali with a final order of removal from a judge, who said he’s homosexual in order to dodge deportation – despite having a wife and two kids at home,” ICE’s post continued.
“Wonder why @60Minutes didn’t ask him about that,” the post concluded.
Well, well, well …
@60Minutes NOT a Texas father!
He is an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Mali with a final order of removal from a judge, who said he’s homosexual in order to dodge deportation – despite having a wife and two kids at home.
Wonder why @60Minutes didn’t ask him about that.

Of course, we all already know why “60 Minutes” neglected to mention these additional facts about Diawara in its reporting.
The left-wing show wanted to emotionally manipulate its audience and garner sympathy for Diawara because he’s a poor ol’ illegal alien, and one thing the folks at “60 Minutes” have made clear is that they love illegal aliens.
Forget that Diawara had 25 years to try obtaining citizenship, but didn’t. And forget that he committed what was essentially “immigration fraud,” as noted by Department of Homeland Security attorney James Percival.
This illegal alien is @60Minutes poster child for what it claims are wrongful deportations. I pulled his file. His claimed reason for fearing Mali was that he is “gay,” just in case you’re wondering how bad the immigration fraud problem is.

All that appeared to matter to the “60 Minutes” crew was that Diawara was an illegal alien. In their eyes, this automatically made him a victim.
But here’s the truth: Diawara is no victim. The legal immigrants he sidestepped to gain entry into the United States are the real victims.
So, of course, are all of us American citizens who deserve better than for the liberal leftist media to jump through hoops to prop up illegal aliens like Diawara — all as they continue turning their backs on the actual American people.
