Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) is facing an early test of his 2028 presidential ambitions as prominent Texas Democrats accuse him of shortchanging their gubernatorial nominee and failing to engage Latino voters.

Beshear is coming under criticism in his capacity as chairman of the Democratic Governors Association for not conducting enough outreach to Latino voters and underfunding Texas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa’s campaign against Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX). Several polls have shown the Texas contest competitive as Abbott seeks a fourth term in office.
