An airplane that caused President Joe Biden to evacuate his private residence “mistakenly” entered the airspace above the Delaware beach house, the Secret Service said Saturday.

The private aircraft had “mistakenly” entered the secure area above the property in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, shortly before 1 p.m. because the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, prompting the relocation of the president as a precautionary measure, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi confirmed.

The aircraft was “immediately escorted out of restricted airspace,” and the Secret Service will interview the pilot, Guglielmi said.

When the plane was detected, Rehoboth Beach Police closed down Rehoboth Avenue in the afternoon. Biden subsequently arrived at the Rehoboth Fire Station via motorcade shortly afterward. Sometime after his departure, the avenue opened back up.
