Carl Bernstein says the House Jan. 6 committee is prepared to show a “real conspiracy” connecting former President Donald Trump’s White House and the Capitol riot.

The Watergate sleuth shared what his expectations are as the panel prepares to begin an array of public hearings next week.

PENCE AIDE FRETTED OVER TRUMP THREAT TO VICE PRESIDENT ON EVE OF JAN. 6: REPORT

“Already, from what I’ve been told … the committee has shown and acquired enough information from both documents and witnesses to show a real conspiracy going into the Oval Office to subvert the Constitution and electoral process in which Joe Biden would take office,” Bernstein told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Friday, referring to efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election.

“And it goes from the White House to the insurrection at the Capitol itself,” he added. “There are many, many elements of this, but what this committee has done from what I can see so far is to establish both a timeline of the president’s conduct, a timeline of what happened involving the demonstrators, getting to [former Vice President Mike] Pence — all these pieces are starting to fit together, and the committee has an awful lot of the evidence.”

Bob Woodward, who helped expose the 1970s Watergate scandal in the Nixon administration with Bernstein, and John Dean, a former White House counsel who testified against President Richard Nixon in 1973 during the Watergate scandal, were also part of the panel Friday.

Bernstein said in January that the Jan. 6 committee “has the goods” on Trump and claimed there was a “cover-up” concerning Jan. 6 “in excess of anything we saw in Watergate.” He said Friday that most Republicans in Congress, other than a few including Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger on the Jan. 6 panel, are trying to “suppress” the investigation because they know the committee “has the goods” on Trump’s “seditious conduct.”
