Chris Cuomo said Friday that his brother Andrew Cuomo, who resigned as governor of New York last year after facing sexual harassment allegations, has been struggling since leaving office.
The former CNN anchor, who recently announced plans to return to the airwaves at NewsNation after he was fired by CNN last December for helping advise his brother amid blowback, said it was hard watching his brother struggle.

“I’m supposed to say, ‘Oh, he’s great!’ But that would be what we call bulls***,” Cuomo told Bill Maher on his HBO talk show Real Time with Bill Maher. “This has been hard, and you learn a lot about the people in your life when you watch them struggle. It’s true: When you struggle, you learn who your friends are. … But he has been in a struggle, and I have watched it. And I am proud of how he’s handling himself.”
Cuomo reiterated his defense of the decision to help his brother despite his role as a news anchor, saying, “Obviously, I’m not objective. Obviously, I’m going to help him.”

The news personality said he also felt a “lost sense of purpose” since being fired from CNN and would not claim he was “happy” despite his planned return to the airwaves. Cuomo also launched a new podcast last week.
Andrew Cuomo, who denied all allegations of wrongdoing, has sparked curiosity about his political plans, but he has missed the deadline to challenge his successor, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, in the Democratic primary election.
