Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) was heckled outside the Capitol by the same far-right comedian who catcalled Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) earlier this summer.
In a video posted to Twitter on Tuesday, Alex Stein ran up to the Texas Republican, referring to him as “eye patch McCain,” and repeatedly asked him why he retweeted a tweet by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy saying he wanted Stein to fail, along with some expletives, as well as criticizing his political stances. Crenshaw seemed to recognize Stein, referring to him by his first name though largely ignoring him. The interaction lasted approximately one minute, ending when Crenshaw walked past a security barricade. Stein ended the interaction by asking him about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
AOC HARASSED OUTSIDE CAPITOL, SAYS SHE WAS ABOUT ‘TO DECK’ CATCALLER
“You lost your eye for weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist, and you don’t even call it out. Weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist, bud. You know that. Let me hear you say something about that,” Stein says in the video.
Crenshaw lost an eye serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan — not in Iraq, as suggested by Stein — after being hit by shrapnel from an improvised explosive device.
“Imagine being a grown man and acting this way. Imagine your whole life is about begging twitter trolls for clicks. This piece of garbage insults every veteran that served in Iraq, and worse, insults the memories of those we lost. (Lost my eye in Afghanistan, btw, not Iraq. Moron),” the congressman tweeted Tuesday evening.

Stein, who gained national fame for a heated interaction with Ocasio-Cortez outside the Capitol in July, called Crenshaw a “traitor” and “globalist.” Crenshaw refers to a previous interaction in which he claims Stein “assaulted a 65-year-old woman,” a charge Stein denies, before saying, “Are you an adult?”
Stein has confronted Crenshaw publicly before, filming a similar video of himself confronting the Texas representative at a Texas GOP convention in June. In the video, he films himself calling Crenshaw a “globalist RINO” (a “Republican in name only”) and, again, “eye patch McCain.”
Stein is a conservative comedian who became known for crashing town hall meetings, frequently in costumes, adopting an over-the-top persona as a transgender or left-wing activist. He would also appear at town hall meetings criticizing Dr. Anthony Fauci and the U.S. government’s COVID-19 response, often in a satirical manner.
He has been heavily criticized by several commentators over his tactics, especially his confrontation of Ocasio-Cortez, in which he referred to her as “my favorite big booty Latina,” which many saw as sexual harassment, including the congresswoman herself.

“I posted about a deeply disgusting incident that happened today on the Capitol steps, but took it down bc it’s clearly someone seeking extremist fame. It’s just a bummer to work in an institution that openly allowed this, but talking about it only invites more. Just really sad,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about the incident.
