Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is slated to hold a fundraiser in Utah on July 19.

While DeSantis is in the midst of his 2022 reelection bid, the fundraiser over 2,000 miles away hints toward higher aspirations. Inside sources did not provide further information about the exact location or attendees, as it is reportedly a private event.

The governor’s spokeswoman, Lindsey Curnutte, said the campaign doesn’t discuss fundraising events with the media.

DeSantis hasn’t confirmed or denied a presidential run in 2024. A recent poll found that 36% of Republican voters would elect DeSantis, compared to 45% who would vote for former President Donald Trump. The single-digit margin might have even swayed Trump himself, who said he can “get along with” DeSantis when asked if the Florida governor was being considered for Trump’s 2024 ticket.

As of May, DeSantis had reportedly raised $124 million for his 2022 campaign. This is twice as much as the $60 million he had for his 2018 campaign. He’s raised the majority of his funds in the past two years, earning only $5.5 million in 2019 and $3.7 million in 2020.

Florida state records reflect that some $25,000 came from Utahan donors, and DeSantis’s political action committee has garnered $430,000 from Utahans. DeSantis was last in Utah in 2021 to speak to the American Legislative Exchange Council, primarily about COVID-19 restrictions.
