2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie said former President Donald Trump could be “out on bail” for multiple legal cases in the few weeks ahead of the Republican National Committee‘s first primary debate.

Christie dismissed Trump’s call on GOP lawmakers to be a “little lower-class” in their fight against Democrats, who he called “dirty, sick players” and Republicans “very high class” at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania.

“Look, he’s not even clearing that bar,” Christie said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union with Kasie Hunt. “It is most likely that by the time we get on the debate stage on August 23, the front-runner will be out on bail in four different jurisdictions: Florida, Washington, Georgia, and New York.”

“Out on bail, Casey. That doesn’t even clear the low-class bar that Donald Trump is advocating for,” Christie said.

Trump is facing two indictments: one on state charges in Manhattan and one on federal charges out of Florida stemming from his handling of classified documents.

He could face a possible indictment out of Washington, D.C., for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol and potential charges out of a Georgia special grand jury investigation looking at his attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Christie said there are “big things” that need to be fixed in the United States, adding that he is running for president to promote parental school choice and lower inflation — while Trump is focused on himself, the former governor of New Jersey said.

“He’s sitting there at a rally for two hours last night talking about his own problems. This is a guy who’s putting himself before the country. You can’t put America first, with Donald Trump, because it’s Trump First,” Christie said.

Trump spoke about his legal battles at a rally last night, two days after special counsel Jack Smith added three charges to the now 40-count indictment for classified documents found in Mar-a-Lago. Trump has denied that he ordered the deletion of security footage from his estate, an allegation that led to one of two obstruction of justice charges.
