Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) slammed former President Donald Trump on Friday, comparing the former president’s recent indictment to actions by former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Bacon implied Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents was similar to Clinton’s alleged storage of classified emails on her computer server.

“As a retired brigadier general who worked with classified materials my entire career, I am shocked at the alleged callousness of how these documents were handled,” Bacon said in a statement. “They should not have been stored at his home and should have been completely handed over when the government requested.”
Bacon continued: “The alleged obstruction of the National Archives and FBI, if true, is inexcusable. I am the same person who criticized Hillary Clinton for knowingly and willfully storing thousands of classified emails on her unclassified computer, and thought the DOJ failed at holding her accountable. I believe in using the same standards, and ask the DOJ to do the same. No one is above the law, and we demand due process and expect equality under the law.”
Clinton has been accused of using a personal email server to handle classified information while she was secretary of state during former President Barack Obama’s administration. But after investigating, the FBI never charged Clinton for using the server.
Trump, who has been indicted on 37 charges related to the classified document scandal, also blasted the former secretary on Friday in a post on Truth Social.
“Hillary Clinton deleted 33,000 emails, many of them Classified, and nobody did anything about it,” Trump posted. “I DID NOTHING WRONG, and got criminally charged!”

More than 300 classified documents were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last year, but the charges center on 31 of the documents.
Trump will appear at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday, June 13, where he is expected to plead “not guilty” to the charges.
