Netflix, the streaming entertainment platform, plans to mail their final iconic red rental movie disc envelopes on Sept. 29.

“We are not charging for any unreturned discs after 9/29. Please enjoy your final shipments for as long as you like!” DVD Netflix said on social media.

The Netflix DVD-by-mail service operates at the DVD.com website.

The company has mailed out 5.2 billion discs since its creation and maintains up to 1.3 million DVD subscribers.

Netflix executives had predicted in 2009 that the physical rentals would end in 2030.

Netflix had offered the monthly subscription concept of per-rental model for each DVD in September 1999. By 2005, Netflix was shipping one million DVDs out every day. In 2006, Netflix filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Blockbuster’s online DVD rental program. The movie rental giants settled their dispute in 2007.

Between 2007 and 2012, Netflix expanded its streaming services and began launching their own original productions including comedy specials with Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, House of Cards, Stranger Things, and original movies for subscribers.
