CBS NewsSunday evening The Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza released a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, that it had been vandalized. CBS reported a spokesperson for the memorial referenced a spike in antisemitism since the war in Gaza broke out.
“A disgusting incident of antisemitism that comes just after the Anti-Defamation League recorded a dramatic increase in antisemitism (both nationally and in Philly) from October to December of last year,” the spokesperson said.
In December, the Anti-Defamation League reported it recorded an “unprecedented” rise in antisemitic “incidents” in the United States over a two-month period since the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas.
