Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) is raking in endorsements for his recently announced Senate bid, with House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) becoming the latest member to back him in the race.
Banks, the former chairman of the Republican Study Committee and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, jumped into the race to replace Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) on Tuesday, touting his conservative record in the House and arguing that the upper chamber needs a “new generation of conservatives.”
Stefanik praised Banks’s tenure in the House and his role in helping craft the GOP’s agenda.
JIM BANKS ANNOUNCES RUN FOR SENATE IN INDIANA
“Jim Banks has been an incredibly fierce and effective conservative voice in the House of Representatives. He has championed the America First agenda and has been one of Nancy Pelosi’s worst nightmares,” the chairwoman said in a statement on Wednesday. “Our country needs more senators who won’t apologize for putting America first, and that’s why we need Jim Banks in the U.S. Senate. I’m proud to endorse my friend and colleague Jim Banks because I know he will work tirelessly on behalf of Hoosiers to save America.”
Stefanik joins other high-profile politicians, including Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-IN), and a slew of state lawmakers in backing the Indiana Republican.
“We need more leaders like Jim Banks in the U.S. Senate — leaders with military experience who will defend our rights and our national security,” Cotton said. “For six years he’s been an indispensable partner in the House and I know he will be an even stronger partner in the Senate. Jim is a proven conservative fighter who puts Hoosiers first and I’m proud to endorse him.”
Bucshon echoed Cotton, praising Banks’s military experience and push for conservative policies.

“Hoosiers deserve to have another tried and true conservative in the Senate, and Jim Banks is by far the best person for the job. Jim and I are both veterans of the U.S. Navy Reserve, and we need Jim in the Senate to build a strong military that will defend the homeland and stand up to our adversaries like Communist China,” he said. “Jim isn’t afraid of the radical left and will fight to remove ‘woke’ training from the military that harms our readiness. … I’m confident Jim will continue the fight for Hoosiers’ conservative values in the Senate, and he has my full support.”
Multiple conservative media figures, including Mark Levin, Charlie Kirk, and Kurt Schlichter, have also voiced support for Banks.
