Former Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s PAC released a new advertisement Tuesday focused on foreign policy, namely toward Israel and Ukraine. The video’s presidential style also added fuel to speculation of a third-party 2024 bid for Hogan, something he hasn’t ruled out.

An America United’s latest ad, titled “Allies,” splices footage of attacks by Russia and Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas with Hogan’s comments on America’s respective responses and criticisms of others in his party, including former President Donald Trump.

“Our allies question whether they should still trust us, and our enemies question whether they should still fear us,” Hogan said in the ad.

“I’m a Reagan guy, and I believe in peace through strength, and I believe in standing up for our allies and standing up to our enemies,” Hogan said. “We need to stand with our allies and secure peace through strength.”

The former Maryland governor’s PAC contrasts him directly with Trump in the ad, playing news coverage of an alleged comment the former president made, calling South Koreans “terrible people.”

Directly after, footage is played of Hogan saying, “I will join my Korean friends in celebrating the last 70 years of partnership and not ignore the storm clouds on the horizon.”

Trump is the likely Republican presidential nominee in 2024, with an enduring double-digit lead over all opponents nationally and in early state polls.

A direct comparison of Hogan to Trump is sure to draw additional speculation of a presidential run for the former governor. Such conjecture has taken place throughout the primary season, with some wondering whether he would throw his hat in the primary competition. But Hogan said he wouldn’t be joining the Republican race earlier this spring, explaining, “I would never run for president to sell books or position myself for a Cabinet role.”

“I have long said that I care more about ensuring a future for the Republican Party than securing my own future in the Republican Party,” he said at the time. “And that is why I will not be seeking the Republican nomination for president.”

However, he didn’t rule out a third-party 2024 run. Hogan is a national co-chairman of No Labels, an organization that has formed an associated political party that may nominate a candidate in the presidential election. In September, while he said he wasn’t actively pursuing a bid as the No Labels nominee, Hogan added, “I have not closed the door to that.”
