North Korea has launched a ballistic missile on Saturday, according to Japan.

The most recent missile launch is the third one in the past week, with the previous launches being on Monday and Thursday. North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern waters on Thursday and fired a ballistic missile over Japan on Tuesday.

The Treasury Department imposed new sanctions on Friday after the second missile test by North Korea. The department designated two people and three entities for their work exporting petroleum to North Korea, which the department said in a release “directly supports the development of DPRK weapons programs and its military.”

On Thursday, North Korea’s military flew a dozen warplanes near its border with South Korea, prompting the neighboring country to scramble 30 military planes in response. The North’s planes flew in formation in what is believed to have been air-to-surface firing drills.

In response to the first ballistic missile launch, the U.S. military conducted joint exercises with its Japanese and South Korean counterparts on Tuesday. President Joe Biden spoke with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, while Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with their Japanese and South Korean counterparts.
