Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for president on Saturday, giving DeSantis his first endorsement from a fellow governor.
The endorsement came at an event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, put on by pro-DeSantis Super PAC Never Back Down. The two governors are good friends and have very similar political beliefs. DeSantis endorsed Stitt in his re-election campaign in 2022, and the Oklahoma governor traveled to Florida earlier this year for a fundraiser for DeSantis.

Two former members of Stitt’s team are also working to help DeSantis become president. Stitt’s pollster on his two campaigns for governor is now running data for Never Back Down, and his former communications director works for DeSantis’ official campaign.
“Governor DeSantis is a strong conservative and principled leader, and I am proud to endorse him for president,” Stitt said in a statement. “As fellow Governors during COVID, DeStanis did not surrender States’ rights and individual liberties over to groupthink. In this election cycle, Oklahomans will remember that DeSantis was one of the few that never backed down in the face of adversity, because DeSantis operated with dogged conviction and shared our values for a limited government and free country.”
He continued by saying DeSantis is the candidate who can beat President Joe Biden and get re-elected to a second term.

After the event in Tulsa, the two governors will travel to Ponca City for the 101 Wild West Rodeo, a favorite of Stitt’s.
The Stitt endorsement comes after 20 Oklahoma state legislators announced their support for the Florida governor’s 2024 bid earlier this week.”
