Santana is the estranged husband of Hernandez, who was first reported missing after she failed to show up for work at the BelovED Charter School, the report noted.

The couple shared three children, and although he is not charged with her murder, authorities expect more charges to be filed against Santana after he is extradited to New Jersey.

Santana is facing desecrating and concealing human remains charges.

The second suspect in the case, 26-year-old Leiner Miranda Lopez, is facing the same charges and remains at large.

Both Santana and Lopez were connected to the case after the pair was involved in a Feb. 5 traffic stop near the location where the body of Hernandez was later uncovered.

An autopsy revealed the victim died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and compression to her neck.
