Former vice president Mike Pence (R) clarified his stance on abortion access this week—saying, if elected in 2024, he would implement more strict measures around the medical procedure.
This includes banning anyone from being able to obtain an abortion even if their pregnancy is determined to be nonviable, according to his remarks during a recent interview.
TRUMP’S IOWA MISTAKES COULD PROVE COSTLY, GOP STRATEGISTS WARN
Pence has used his presidential campaign and increased media presence as platforms to voice his staunch opposition to abortion, and his self-described pro-life views. “I just have heard so many stories over the years of courageous women and families who were told that their unborn child would not go to term or would not survive. And then they had a healthy pregnancy and a healthy delivery,” pence said.
As it stands, Pence remains the sole Republican candidate who has announced his support for a national six-week ban on abortions, with former President Donald Trump, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) having so far abstained, publicly.
“I want to always err on the side of life,” he said, also adding, “I honestly believe that we got this extraordinary opportunity in the country today to restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law.”

The former VP has also called the issue of abortion “more important than politics” as he continues rallying support on the presidential campaign trail.
Political analysts have described Pence’s bid for the White House as a longshot, as Trump’s favorability with GOP voters continues to show him with a steady lead going into the primary season next year.
