Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) dodged answering whether he believed Vice President Kamala Harris is the best option for President Joe Biden’s 2024 running mate.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday that Biden thought Harris was the best choice for a running mate, and “that’s what matters.”

While appearing on The Lead Thursday, CNN host Jake Tapper asked Raskin what he thought of Pelosi’s comment, pressing for the Maryland Democrat’s own opinion on Harris.

“I mean, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with that answer,” Raskin said.

“Obviously, President Biden, Vice President Harris, Speaker Pelosi, for that matter, all of us have been laboring under just a deluge of propaganda, disinformation and criticism by the MAGA Right. This is a rule-or-ruin faction which takes the position that, if they’re not going to be able to control the direction of government, they are going to throw grease in the gears to try to shut everything down,” he continued. “And what we’re all dealing with right now is this impending September 30 deadline, because the MAGA Right wants to shut down the government.”

Tapper interrupted Raskin to say he was “doing what Speaker Pelosi did, which is not answering the question.”

After being pressed again regarding his opinion of Harris as Biden’s 2024 running mate, he said: “Obviously, she gave the right answer.”

“That’s President Biden’s choice. And I think she’s an excellent running mate for President Biden,” Raskin added. “I don’t know what more needs to be said about that.”

Raskin accused Republicans and the media of “trying to throw presidential politics into turmoil.”

Both Pelosi and Raskin’s comments come as 54% of Democratic voters say they are satisfied with Harris as Biden’s running mate in 2024, but only 30% say they are enthusiastic, according to the latest CBS News/YouGov poll.
