Supplemental Security Income recipients will receive a payment of $914 on Dec. 30, making it the second SSI payment recipients receive this month.

SSI recipients are receiving two payments this month due to the first day of next month, January, falling on a national holiday, New Year’s Day. The SSA issues checks every month on the business day prior to months that begin on a weekend or holiday to make sure beneficiaries have the check by the first of the month, according to the agency.

The upcoming payment this month will be slightly higher than the Dec. 1 payment, in which $841 was given to SSI recipients. This is because the SSA is enacting a cost of living adjustment to monthly benefits, leading to the upcoming payment being 8.7% larger.

The two payments combined will equal a total of $1,755.

Essential persons, meaning those who live with a person receiving SSI and provide necessary care, will also get a second payment this month on Dec. 30 worth $458. Eligible couples are also receiving two payments this month, each worth $1,261.

In 2023, recipients will be given two payments within the same month in April, June, September, and December due to the first of the months following those falling on a weekend or a holiday.
