“Mr. Spacey strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case,” said Patrick Gibbs, Spacey’s legal representative.

The charges were read out to Spacey, but the actor was not asked if he pleaded guilty or not guilty. Spacey’s solicitor stated that the actor denies all and any criminality. The magistrate then granted Spacey bail before he was escorted out of the building.

The House of Cards actor faces two counts of sexual assault on a man in March 2005, one count of sexual assault on a man and causing him to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent in August 2008, and one count of sexual assault on a man in April 2013.

Spacey is no stranger to accusations of sexual assault after he was accused of sexual assault in 2017 by Anthony Rapp, who claimed Spacey made sexual advances on him in his teenage years during a party. Spacey filed a motion in federal court to have Rapp’s lawsuit dismissed in April and issued a statement apologizing for the advances after Rapp made his accusations in October 2017, even though he said he did not remember the encounter.

The actor was also charged in 2018 with indecent assault stemming from an alleged incident with a teenager on Nantucket in Massachusetts during the summer of 2016. He pleaded not guilty, the charge was later dropped, and the alleged victim in that case also withdrew a civil lawsuit against the actor.
