2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign announced Saturday that he had met the criteria set forth by the Republican National Committee to qualify for the first debate.

The qualifications include 40,000 individual donors, Ramaswamy’s campaign says it has more than 65,000, and to be polling at least 1% in three separate polls, which Ramaswamy is.

WHO WAS THE REAL J. ROBERT OPPENHEIMER?

His campaign cited two Morning Consult polls showing him at 8%, a Kaplan Strategies poll showing him at 12%, and a Harvard/Harris poll showing him at 10%. According to RealClearPolitics, he averages in third place, sitting at 5.9%.

He also said he intends to sign the RNC candidate pledge stating he will support the Republican nominee for president regardless of who it is, another qualification required to participate in the debate.

“The RNC’s debate stage criteria are stringent but fair,” Ramaswamy said in a statement. “I am a first-time candidate who started with very low name ID, no political donors, and no pre-existing fundraising lists. If an outsider can clear the bar, politically experienced candidates should be able to as well: if you can’t hit these metrics by late August, you have absolutely no chance of defeating Joe Biden in the general election.”

The first debate is set for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee, and it will be hosted by Fox News anchors Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum.
