Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) blasted President Joe Biden’s relations with China, saying they present “major conflicts of interest.”

While appearing on Life, Liberty & Levin, Donalds said Biden’s ties to China were the precursor to his “disastrous” COVID-19 response policies, a push to increase reliance on electric vehicles, and the United States’s fentanyl crisis.

“I feel there are major conflicts of interest,” Donalds said. “How is this president holding China accountable when his family has had dealings with the CCP in the past when he was in the Senate, when he was vice president, and what’s happening now that he’s president of the United States?”

As a member of the House Budget Committee, Donalds also said he and fellow Republicans are looking at defense spending in light of Biden’s “weak” leadership.

“The one thing we have to understand is that this president’s leadership has been weak on the national stage, on the world stage, so China is flexing its muscles,” Donalds said. “We already know what’s happening with Russia, we’ve obviously got to keep an eye on Iran, and the No. 1 way you do that is making sure our fighting forces, our men and women, they’re lean, they’re mean, they have every tool in their arsenal and at their capability to be able to hold back these adversaries across the globe.”

Donalds suggested that Department of Defense spending cuts should be taken.

“We have a bunch of woke foolishness going on at the Department of Defense that’s actually holding down recruitment. We have the lowest recruitment levels in the history of our military, and part of the foolishness they are doing over there, spending money on diversity, equity, inclusion programs and the like,” he added. “I want to make sure we get the foolishness out of DOD so we are a lean and mean fighting force to get the job done, if the job is called upon.”

Donalds said he expects Republicans will be successful in cleaning up spending across the federal government.
