Former President Barack Obama mocked his presidential successor for not accepting the 2020 election results during an appearance at a Georgia rally on Friday.

Obama told the attendees of the rally about his first race for Illinois’s 1st Congressional District in 2000 and how he ended up getting “whooped” by his opponent. The former president described the loss as “embarrassing” and that he had to go out the day after his loss with “a big L on my forehead,” according to footage of his speech.

“And let me tell you, I was frustrated too,” Obama said. “You know what I didn’t do, though? I didn’t claim that the election was rigged. I didn’t try to stop votes from being counted. I didn’t incite a mob to storm the Capitol. I took my lumps! I figured out why my campaign hadn’t connected to voters. I tried to run a better race the next time — and by the way, I won the next time, because that’s how our system works!”

TRUMP CARD: FORECAST PREDICTS DONALD TRUMP IS SET TO BE THE BIG WINNER ON ELECTION NIGHT

Obama told the story as an obvious nod to former President Donald Trump repeatedly denying the 2020 election results, where he lost to Joe Biden, Obama’s vice president.

The former president also made a joke about Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker while at the event, joking that the candidate carries around a fake police badge “like a kid playing cops and robbers.” The joke was aimed at Walker displaying a badge at a recent debate, trying to prove his previous claims that he has served in law enforcement.

Obama’s appearance in Georgia comes as the Democratic Party is seeking to defend its majorities in Congress ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, which will take place on Nov. 8. The former president is also set to travel to other battleground states, such as Michigan and Wisconsin, over the weekend.
