Whoopi Goldberg slammed both former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as racist and insane on Tuesday’s episode of The View.

“You’ve got a lot of racism going on and a little bit of insanity,” she said of “both of them” during a discussion of possible 2024 Republican primary matchups.

Prior to Goldberg’s remark, Sara Haines claimed that “some of these other Republican candidates give Trump people an off-ramp. They can actually leave the chaos, and they still don’t take it.”

However, Goldberg said she isn’t sure they have an “off-ramp.”

“Here’s the thing to keep in mind, Ron DeSantis is now running a state where he decides what can be taught in schools or not,” she said.

Haines then asked if it is at least a “lesser of evils” scenario, but her co-host said no, equating the various levels of racism and insanity she claims the two men espouse.

Later in the discussion, Alyssa Farah Griffin criticized DeSantis, saying, “You don’t beat Trump by being Trump-lite.”

Griffin said she prefers those similar to Govs. Chris Sununu (R-NH) and Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), who can reach voters across the aisle.

“Glenn Youngkin is also telling people that you can’t talk about African American history and transgender,” Sunny Hostin interjected.

“I wish somebody would show me a book — show me the school book that everybody is talking about that is teaching [critical race theory],” Goldberg then challenged.

“I’m demanding it now because I’m tired of it.”

She added that the CRT that parents are afraid of is just students learning about U.S. history so that it doesn’t get repeated.

Notably, recent investigations by the watchdog group Accuracy in Media have uncovered covert efforts to inject CRT into schools. Educators detail changing the names and phrases of the content being taught to avoid pushback from parents.
