A new stock exchange recently opened in Texas — meaning that “Y’all Street” is about to give Wall Street a run for its money.

The Texas Stock Exchange — also known as the TXSE or the “Tex-ee” — opened on July 31 in Dallas as the first new American stock exchange in decades, per a report from Fox Business.

The project plans to compete with the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Composite for new listings, expecting to facilitate initial public offerings, or IPOs, beginning in 2027.

Major financial institutions and asset managers — such as BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and Charles Schwab — are backing the Texas Stock Exchange.

The effort recognizes that the “center of gravity for American capitalism” is increasingly located in Texas and the broader South — even calling the region the “Boom Belt.”

“As the only primary corporate and ETP listings venue built and headquartered in the Boom Belt, TXSE is both a product of the region’s rise and a catalyst to accelerate it,” the Texas Stock Exchange’s website said.

Dallas-Fort Worth is currently the leading market in the United States for corporate relocations, according to an April report from the Dallas Business Journal.

There were 11 interstate and international corporate headquarter relocations into Dallas last year, followed by Miami — another city in the South — with 8 relocations.

Since 2018, Dallas has seen more than 100 corporate relocations.

Charles Schwab moved its headquarters from San Francisco to Westlake, Texas, while Goldman Sachs opened a large regional campus in downtown Dallas.

The Texas Stock Exchange will have a permanent headquarters at the Bank of America Tower in Dallas.
